If you are just tuning in, we invite you to read past newsletters to catch up on how we found the Montalcino house, got it under contract, closed the deal, and began renovation planning.
We were driving to our nieces’ graduation party when Elena, the daughter of the former owner of our Montalcino house, sent us a WhatsApp message and a photo.
Ciao Cara. Come state? Ti scrivo perchè oggi parcheggiando all’ospedale ho fatto case che avete la luce del terrazzo accesa. Non ho idea da quanto è così. Io l’ho visto oggi pommeriggio.
“Ciao Cara. How are you? I’m writing because today while parking at the hospital, I noticed that your terrace light is on. I have no idea how long it’s been this way. I just saw it this afternoon.”
We thanked Elena for alerting us and told her we had no idea how long the light had been on either. We haven’t been there since February, and we know all of the lights were off when we left.
Our geometra, Gabriele, is the only one with the keys. People have been in and out to take measurements and study the space in order to make the architectural drawings for the remodel. One of them probably left the light on. We’ll let Gabriele know and ask him to have someone stop by to turn it off.
Perfetto. Allora a presto. Un abbraccio. Quando tornate?
“Perfect. Well then, see you soon. Sending our best. When will you return?”
We told Elena that we weren’t sure yet, but that we thought we’d be back in September or October. We want to be there when the renovation work finally begins, and it seems that won’t be until fall.
