Avoiding Rome's touristy restaurants + a gem near the Pantheon
I've seen this restaurant so often but never tried it. Looking forward to checking it out!
I used to love Armando, but since the pandemic it has really gone downhill. The food is now mediocre and the service is terrible.
And yet it's always fully booked by tourists who don't know better. Or if they do, it doesn't matter because it was a one-time visit anyway. Sadly, the business model works - for the short term, at least.
Lovely write up, Cara; can't wait to try out Fortunato during our next visit!
I'd love to share some other central recommendations that clients have recently raved about (sometimes going twice!):
Saltimbocca Ristorante (near Piazza Navona)
Ristorante La Scala (Trastevere)
Ristorante Santa Cristina al Quirinale (near Piazza Venezia and my new favorite)
Ristorante Dilla (Spanish Steps)
And voted best for fine dining and amazing views and experiences, Imago and Divinity Rooftop.
Rome has so many great restaurants waiting to impress! Buon appetito!
